3/4 Classroom & PE
Teaching experience, qualifications, professional development achievements: I have 20 years of teaching experience at both primary and secondary level, in both classroom and specialist areas. After teaching in both levels, my passion is definitely with primary school students. For the last seven years, I have been teaching at St. Pats in both the classroom and PE.
Tell us about your approach to teaching and learning: I believe in aiding the development of the whole student – emotionally, socially and academically. Every student has different strengths and challenges, but all students have the opportunity to learn and grow across all areas of their education. I create safe learning environments where students are encouraged to take risks with their learning which in turn helps to develop resilient and independent learners.
What is the best part of being a teacher? The best part of being a teacher is watching students have those ‘lightbulb’ moments where something they have been challenged with finally clicks for them and a new understanding is gained.
Why did you want to join the team at Our Lady of the Way? Our Lady of the Way provides new and exciting challenges that come with helping to establish a new school. I am looking forward to being part of a team that is passionate about creating positive learning experiences for all of their students.
What are you interests outside of school life? I have two children, Andrew (13) and Abby (nine), who love playing sport, so I spend time each week going to training sessions and watching them play on the weekends. I also enjoy going to the gym, reading and spending time with family and friends.
